Successful students automatically progress to the second year of the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma.
This eighteen unit programme demonstrates a modern and innovative approach to the World of Business and includes the following areas of study:
- Business Environment.
- Investigating Business Resources.
- Introduction to Marketing.
- Business Communication.
Plus fourteen further specialist units. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
The aims of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment in a range of business areas and to give them a qualification that will enable them to progress to higher education.
A range of industry visits, including a residential visit will form an integral part of the programme. Each campus can tailor programmes to improve employment opportunities, eg. SAGE accounts, word/text processing, first aid, CPR, Duke of Edinburgh, foreign trip/exchange, business competition, interview skills training.
Continuous Assessment throughout the year based on a range of assignments, and projects across all modules plus an element of examination.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grades C or above or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma or other relevant qualifications. In circumstances where there are more applications for the course than there are places available, the College reserves the right to ask for higher grades.
This course will prepare you for study at HND or Degree level or for employment in a range of Business Careers e.g. Banking, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resource Managements, e Business, Estate Agency, Public Relations, Insurance etc.
All full-time students at the Northern Regional College have the opportunity to improve their English, Maths and IT skills and gain qualifications. The qualification you take will depend on the qualification you already have. If you do not have a grade C or above in GCSE English, Maths or ICT, you MUST do Essential Skills. This will form a compulsory part of your timetable.Show Essential Skills courses
