Course Content

The Level 3 course gives students the opportunity to develop knowledge, understanding and skills of complex administrative functions and activities which will enable them to carry out a range of non routine tasks in a senior job role.

The course is particularly relevant for employers who seek to employ an Executive Personal Assistant/Clerical Officer in Administration.

Core L3 units include:

  • Produce Complex Business Document
  • Understanding Functions and Roles of business organisations
  • Reviewing and Developing Office Procedures
  • Supporting Recruitment and Selection Procedures
  • Applied Legislation
  • Working in Administration Teams
  • Verbal Communications in Business
  • Financial Transaction

You will also be given the opportunity to gain an ICT qualification.

Please note that there are additional examination fees of 25 per unit (approximately).

Course Aims

To provide students with the knowledge, and practical training in the field of office administration.

Special Features

  • Students will vist local businesses to gain an insight into the world of Administrative Work. 
  • Guest speaker from Equality Commission.
  • Students will also complete a period of work placement.

Assessment Methods

A wide range of assessments are carried ranging from assignments, portfolio building and observation of practical office tasks. Assessments are provided by OCR.

OCR Administration (Business Professional) Level 2, NVQ Level 2 Administration or 4 GCSEs at Grade A-C. Students who have not gained English and Mathematics at grade C or above will be required to attend the Essential Skills classes in Numeracy, Communication and ICT to gain the Equivalent GCSE qualifications.

To full-time employment in both private and public administrative sectors, for example:

  • NI Civil Service
  • Health Service
  • Financial Institutions
  • Accounting Industry

or to Level 4 HND in Business.

All full-time students at the Northern Regional College have the opportunity to improve their English, Maths and IT skills and gain qualifications. The qualification you take will depend on the qualification you already have. If you do not have a grade C or above in GCSE English, Maths or ICT, you MUST do Essential Skills. This will form a compulsory part of your timetable.
