The main aspects of the course deal with: (1) The supervisor relationship. (2) Working ethically in the role of a supervisor (3) Culture and diversity issues that impinge on the supervisor relationship (4) Agency settings and their role in supervision.
This course is designed for applicants who have completed a higher level qualification in Counselling of at least 450 hours plus 450 hours clinical hours and have at least two years of supervised clinical practice.
The course involves a large amount of practical role plays. 90% attendance is a mandatory part of the course.
Completion of a personal learning record, case studies, assignment, supervisors reports and feedback from tutor and peers.
Applicants must be over 19 years of age. It is strongly recommended that the applicant is over 25 years of age. All applicants should:
- Be practising counsellors with a Level 5 in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, CBT or equivalent PLUS one year’s post qualification supervised client work, OR
- Have Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling or equivalent and at least 2 years post qualification supervised client work
- Have professional body accreditation or be working towards accreditation
All applicants must be undertaking supervision as part of their own ethical and safe practice. All applicants will be invited to attend an information session in 2017.
