*Learners who possess qualified practitioner status must complete a reflective account in order to achieve this unit.
To provide opportunities for students to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the early years sector or progress to higher education vocational qualifications such as a full-time or part-time degree in early years.
This course offers students the opportunity to explore their own area of expertise and professional practice.
A range of methods will be used including assignments, case studies and practical exercises.
A minimum of 1 ‘A’ Level pass or relevant Level 3 qualification, eg. CCLD, Health & Social Care, Specialist Teaching & Learning and Access Course.
Applicants must satisfy ACCESS NI clearance. Applicants must be able to undertake placement in the Early Years Sector for a two days per week if not already working in this field.

Students can use this award to enhance their career prospects in a range of Early Years settings. The qualification may also provide credit towards related professional awards and degrees.
Upon completion of the HNC, students are qualified to obtain employment such as a classroom assistant, special needs assistant, nursery school assistant, etc.
