- Electrical & Mechanical Science for Engineering
- Fabrication Techniques
If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Engineering has been developed in the engineering sector to provide opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocational specific qualification to enter employment in the engineering sector or to progress to Level 3 studies. The course provides opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities essential for successful performance in working life.
Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D-E or above, or equivalent, or set of qualifications, considered by the Course Team to be satisfactory. In circumstances where there are more applications for the course than there are places available, the College reserves the right to ask for higher grades. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Students who successfully complete the programme (with Merit grades in both Electrical and Mechanical Science for Engineering and Mathematics for Engineering) may have the entry requirements for a range of full-time Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma programmes or part-time Level 3 BTEC Diploma programmes. Students achieving a Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Engineering and also Essential Skills at the required level will have substantially improved chances of gaining employment in the Engineering sector with eligibility to undertake a Level 3 Apprenticeship.
