This is a new course is aimed at sudents who want to specialise in Interactive (Digital) Media Production from an early stage. We introduce you to a range of skills, including :
- Website Production
- Graphic Design
- Digital Art
- Digital Audio
- Digital Project Planning
- Digital Photography
There is a growing demand for Digital Media skills throughout all sectors of the economy; every business needs a website and the animation industry is thriving in the Belfast area. This entry-level course will set you on a very definite pathway to employment. Potentially, you can develop your Interactive Media skills at the Newtownabbey campus all the way up to Foundation Degree if you want, where you will work in partnership with industry. If you have a talent for design, if you love working with software and if you want to become part of the digital revolution, then this is the course that you are looking for. If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
The Newtownabbey campus already runs very successful Interactive Media courses at Levels 3, 4 and 5. This new Level 2 courses is an opportunity to get a real head start in a thrilling and innovative sector which is growing constantly.
Assessment will be both practical and written, with the practical taking the higher percentage. Students will be assessed individually but will also learn how to work as part of a team.
Applicants should have 4 GCSE's at Grade D-E or above, or other relevant qualifications ">In circumstances where there are more applications for the course than there are places available, the College reserves the right to ask for higher grades.
Successful students will be in an excellent position to compete for places on the popular Level 3 Extended Diploma in Interactive Media at the same campus. .
All full-time students at the Northern Regional College have the opportunity to improve their English, Maths and IT skills and gain qualifications. The qualification you take will depend on the qualification you already have. If you do not have a grade C or above in GCSE English, Maths or ICT, you MUST do Essential Skills.
