Course Content

There are 10 units completed on the Level 2 award. Examples of these include:

  • Communication
  • Health and Safety
  • Child Development
  • Equality and Inclusion
  • Play and Learning
  • First Aid
  • Child Protection

If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.

Course Aims

To prepare candidates for working 0 - 19 years age range.

Assessment Methods

Assignments and work based portfolio including observations.

Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs at Grade D-G or above/2 GCSEs at grade C or other relevant qualfications and satisfy ACCESS NI Assessment Methods and health checks. In cases where there are more applications for this course than there are places available, candidates with the requisite entry requirements, will be given preference according to the date of receipt by the college of their application.

Gain employment in child care settings at recognised status. Follow opportunities for both work and career development within the Childcare sector. You may progress onto either Level 3 CCLD or National Diploma in Childcare.
