This new practical, industry-related course combines two exciting sectors- Travel & Tourism and Aviation, comprising a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism and incorporating Industry Skills from Aviation. This course has been developed in response to an increase in new air routes throughout Europe and continuing expansion in the growth of regional airports. This rapid expansion has led to a huge demand for a new, flexibly-skilled workforce.
The Diploma in Travel and Tourism provides an introduction to the travel and tourism sector for those who wish to further a career in one of its many industries, including retail travel, tour operations, visitor attractions and accommodation. This Diploma is complimented by the opportunity to study Aviation units, which will appeal to those with specific interests in furthering their careers in a wide range of airport roles such as passenger liaison and leadership, along with traditional airline jobs including cabin crew, customer service and passenger service agents.
You will learn by completing practical projects and assessments that are based on realistic and fun travel, tourism and aviation situations. In addition, you will develop the transversal skills you need to start or progress a career in this industry.
The course is equivalent to three A Levels which means on successful completion you will have the choice to go into employment or progress to higher education. The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism is a full-time programme and is equally suitable for school leavers and mature students.
The programme is designed specifically for those intending to seek a career in Travel, Tourism and /or Aviation. In addition to classroom teaching and in support of your studies, there will be visits to local airports, travel and tourism organisations and events, masterclasses and practical demonstrations from guest speakers and industry aviation experts. You will have an opportunity to achieve internationally recognised WorldHost qualifications as well as partake in an induction programme. This will include a trip which will aims to introduce you to the local travel and tourism and aviation industry. In year 2 there may be an opportunity of an international residential trip or involvement in a College exchange programme.
