MentorConnect is a package of resources for employers and apprentices, which will improve the support provided to apprentices and provide everyone involved with an understanding of how Apprenticeships work.

There are three elements to MentorConnect:

The Employer

If you are an employer, the ‘Employers’ Toolkit’ provides you with all the information you need to work with an apprentice, and explores how the ApprenticeshipNI programme operates. It sets out the benefits it can bring to your company, and to those people aspiring to work in your industry.

The Mentor

The scheme also provides an opportunity for employers to develop the skills needed to support an apprentice in your workplace. The ‘MentorConnect: Mentoring Module’ is free and self-directed, which means you complete the course online at your own pace. After completing the module you will receive a certificate demonstrating that you are a trained apprenticeship mentor.

The Apprentice

For people planning to become an apprentice we have created the ‘Apprentice Toolkit’. This will give you the information you need on how to prepare yourself to become an apprentice, how to secure your apprenticeship job, how to make the most of your apprenticeship and how to build your career in your chosen area. This toolkit supports you to be ready to start work with your employer and to work towards your qualification.

The MentorConnect resources were developed by the 6 NI Colleges with financial assistance from the Department for the Economy under the NI Apprenticeship Challenge Fund.
