Female honorary fellow being presented with framed certificate by male and female Principal outside Galgorm Resort and Spa

Claire Galloway, Clinical Lead Nurse for Sexual Health at the Northern Health & Social Care Trust, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Northern Regional College. Claire is a previous winner of the Royal College of Nursing’s ‘Northern Ireland Nurse of the Year’ Award and has been recognised for transforming and modernising the Trust’s sexual health service.

Claire also developed ‘The Clinic’, an innovative partnership with Northern Regional College which promotes sexual health to young people and provides advice, treatment and testing on campus.

Professor Terri Scott, Principal and Chief Executive of Northern Regional College, stated: “Claire is an inspiration, tackling an important subject which is often viewed as a 'taboo'. The development of the Clinic as it is today is down to Claire's innovative approach to her work and her outstanding level of commitment. She has had a profound impact in improving sexual health and wellbeing for all members of society.”

Claire commented: “To receive an honorary fellowship from Northern Regional College, an institution with which I have worked for many years, is an honour which I am absolutely delighted to accept. Working alongside the College, we have brought much-needed health services into the heart of communities, and I look forward to continuing this important work with them.”

Northern Regional College’s Winter Graduations took place on Thursday 13 December 2018 at the Galgorm Resort and Spa.
