Simon Osborne Air Ambulance NI Appeal

Thursday

Staff and students at the Magherafelt have got behind the Simon Osborne Air Ambulance NI Appeal to help raise money and awareness for the charity’s lifesaving work. Level 3 Engineering students at Magherafelt campus marked the end of the academic year with simulated car racing at Room2Race in Ballymoney with all proceeds from the event going to the charity.

The Appeal was launched earlier this year by Simon’s family and friends who wanted to show their gratitude to the Air Ambulance service for saving Simon's life following a serious motorbike accident.

Simon’s uncle, David McIlmoyle, who is an Engineering lecturer at Magherafelt campus, said the family were very appreciative of the way staff and students had supported their fundraising efforts.

“Simon faces further surgery and is making a good recovery but he wouldn’t have survived without the prompt services of Air Ambulance NI. We hope to raise a significant amount of money to help Air Ambulance NI continue with its lifesaving work.”

David added that a number of other fundraising events are taking place over the summer, including bike runs and barbeques. For further details check out Simon Osborne Air Ambulance NI Appeal on Facebook. If you’d like to make a donation, go to www.simons-aani-appeal.co.uk
