Any lost or destroyed certificates may be replaced by contacting the appropriate awarding body; online application forms to apply for replacement certificates can be found on most awarding bodies websites.
We accept private candidates (those students from outside our centre) who wish to sit an examination at one of our campuses; however it may be further to other conditions applying. Closing date and prices can be obtained from each of the Examinations Office.
As of September 2009 Northern Regional College obtained Unique Learner Numbers for students enrolled at the college registering with awarding bodies. The Unique Learner Number is issued by Managing Information Across Partners (MIAP). MIAP offer a Learner Record Service which will permit anyone with a ULN to access their participation and achievement data via a website. It means information within the Personal Learning Records is secure and cannot be shared with other organisations (including statutory bodies), without the prior consent of the learner. A pilot of this website commenced in England in September 2009 and will eventually be rolled out across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
If the course you enrol on requires registration with an awarding body you will be asked to complete a document called a Fair Processing Notice as part of the enrolment process.
Further information on ULNs and MIAP can be obtained at www.miap.gov.uk.
The QCF: a new framework for recognising and accrediting qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The framework is at the heart of a major reform of vocational qualifications system designed to make the whole system simpler to understand and use and more inclusive. The intention is to make both the system and the qualifications offered far more relevant to the needs of employers and more flexible and accessible for learners.
At present, it is hard to understand all the different types of qualification that learners hold - what level they are, how long they take to complete, what content they cover, and how they compare to other qualifications. The new framework will help present qualifications in a way that is easy to understand and measure.
As a result many of the qualifications titles such as BTEC Firsts and Level 3 BTEC Nationals may be re-titled from September 2010.
