Northern Regional College has been named a finalist in the Excellence in the Arts category at the Local Women Magazine Education Awards 2026, having won the same award in 2025.

The annual awards celebrate achievement across Northern Ireland’s education sector, recognising educators and institutions that demonstrate dedication, innovation and a positive impact on their students and wider communities.

Northern Regional College’s latest shortlisting reflects the continued commitment of its Performing Arts and Music team to providing students with creative, practical learning experiences while helping them develop the skills, confidence and industry experience needed to progress within the creative industries.

Students across the department have opportunities to develop their craft through practical performance, production and collaborative projects, alongside gaining qualifications designed to support progression to further study, higher education and employment.

Danielle Birkett, Curriculum Area Manager at Northern Regional College, said:

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Excellence in the Arts award. Following our win in this category last year, it is particularly special to see the commitment, creativity and enthusiasm of our staff and students recognised once again.

“Our courses are about much more than developing technical ability. We want our students to grow in confidence, explore their creativity and gain the practical experience and transferable skills that will help them take their next steps within education or the creative industries.

“To see the department recognised at a Northern Ireland-wide level is something everyone involved can be very proud of, and we are looking forward to celebrating alongside the other finalists.”

Northern Regional College received the Excellence in the Arts award, sponsored by The MAC, at the Local Women Magazine Education Awards 2025, held on 31 May last year.

The Local Women Magazine Education Awards 2026 are endorsed by Education Minister Paul Givan and will take place at the Europa Hotel, Belfast, on Saturday 10 October 2026, hosted by U105 presenter Frank Mitchell.

Northern Regional College will join finalists from across Northern Ireland at the awards ceremony, which will recognise achievement and excellence across a range of areas within education.
