Northern Regional College is celebrating the outstanding achievement of Ballymena student Valentin Timuc, who has secured a place in the prestigious WorldSkills UK National Finals in Digital Support and Security
Valentin, who studies a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology at the College’s Ballymena Campus, earned his place following a highly competitive series of national qualifiers. His success demonstrates exceptional technical knowledge, practical ability and professionalism in areas including computing, cybersecurity and digital support.
He will represent Northern Regional College at the National Finals, taking place at venues across South Wales from 18th–20th of November 2026.
The WorldSkills UK National Finals bring together the most talented apprentices and learners from across the UK to compete in more than 40 different technical skills. Designed in partnership with industry, the competitions give entrants valuable practical experience while developing the technical expertise, confidence and work-ready skills needed to thrive in their careers.
Valentin said, “Qualifying for the WorldSkills UK National Finals is a huge achievement for me and I’m really proud to represent Northern Regional College.
Valentin added: “Progressing through the different stages of the competition has helped me apply what I’ve learned on my IT course and strengthen my skills in digital support, computing and cybersecurity. I now feel prepared and ready for the National Finals, and I’m looking forward to competing alongside talented students from across the UK in South Wales.”
