A student at Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus has been awarded Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Master accreditation. The MOS programme offers students the option of gaining certification in one or more different Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. To become a Specialist Master, they have to pass exams and demonstrate proficiency in four Microsoft Office programmes.

Victoria Johnson from North Belfast, passed exams in Word Expert, Excel Expert, PowerPoint and Outlook - all at the first attempt - to gain the Master qualification. She is now planning to do a Foundation Degree in Computing Science at the College.

The MOS Master accreditation is internationally recognised and Victoria says it is ideal for anyone looking to enhance their CV.

“I’ve always had an interest in computers. I studied ICT at both GCSE and A level which gave me the basic knowledge and skills needed to use Microsoft Office programs. Completing the Microsoft Office Specialist Master program has enabled me to improve my understanding and knowledge of the different Microsoft Office programs. The MOS certification programme has been very beneficial for me as it shows I have the necessary skills to use Office programs proficiently.”

Congratulating Victoria on her success, Jim Nelson, Associate Head of Computing at the College, said it was a fantastic achievement, particularly as she had passed all the exams at the first attempt.

“Microsoft Office Specialist Master Certification demonstrates that you have the highest level of skills to proficiently use Office programs. Victoria is the first student at the College to achieve MOS Master status for Office 2016. This is a well-deserved accolade for such a hardworking and diligent student. ”
