Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships

McAuley Engineering Ltd, is one of Northern Ireland’s major manufacturers of sheet metal and precision parts for various market sectors including Transport, Construction and Material Handling.  Working in partnership with Northern Regional College, we are inviting applications for Fabrication apprenticeships at level 2, and if successful progressing to level 3.

The qualifications

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship (possibility to progress to Level 3)
  • Minimum school leaving age
  • Should have a minimum of 4 GCSE’s grade C or above including English, Maths (not Ess. Skills) and another STEM subject, ICT or Computer Science being advantageous.

Offers of employment are conditional upon successful achievement of predicted grades.

The experience

  • Experience of working in a factory environment is desirable
  • Understanding of the importance of Health and Safety practices

Higher Level Apprenticeships

Applications for September 2026 Higher Level Apprentice (Electrical Engineering) intake are open now and close on 9 February at 11pm. 

Who is it for?

  • Anyone who has 3 A-Levels at grades A* - C including Mathematics or Physics or equivalent (Level 3)
  • Be aged 18 or over by September 2026
  • Hold a full current UK driving licence or obtain one by September 2026
  • Those who have achieved the entry qualifications determined by the relevant sector

What does it involve?

Higher Level Apprenticeships (HLA) range from Level 4 (HNC) to Level 7 (Master’s degree) with the majority at Level 5 (Foundation degree / equivalent).

The duration of a HLA varies depending on the programme of study you chose but the minimum is two years.

Engineering Apprentice - Dungannon and Belfast

Dale Farm

United Feeds, part of Dale Farm – the UK’s largest farmer‑owned dairy cooperative – manufactures blended and compound feeds for dairy, beef, and sheep, with production facilities in Belfast and Dungannon. Alongside feed, we provide innovative nutritional solutions, on‑farm advisory services, and selected farm inputs including fertiliser, calf milk replacer, and forage inoculant direct to farms and merchants.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Engineering Apprentice will join an exciting Apprenticeship programme designed to provide the skills and experience needed to become a fully qualified Engineer within the manufacturing industry. You will be supported and guided by an experienced team, with the opportunity to put the theory into practice on the factory floor.

The Apprenticeship

You will have the opportunity to work towards a Level 2 Engineering Apprenticeship with a local college (e.g. Magherafelt, Newtownabbey, Ballymena). The Programme will be up to 4 years depending on studies.

Entry Criteria

  • 5 GCSE’s at C/D or above, including Mathematics and English.
  • Or equivalent Essential Skills Level 2 in Literacy & Numeracy
  • A good work ethic with an interest and passion about starting a career in Engineering.
  • Self-motivated, good attendance and punctual
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Awareness of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook etc)
  • Ability to travel to college and workplace
  • Right to work in the UK (Sponsorship is not available)

Engineering Apprenticeships 

IPC Mouldings are a leading Northern Ireland manufacturer specialising in injection moulded components for a range of industrial sectors and are inviting applications for Level 2 and Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeships, which run over two years from September 2026.

Working with Workplus and the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council E Hub, this programme combines paid, hands on experience with structured off-the-job learning at Northern Regional College.

The qualifications

  • Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 with progression to Level 3
  • Starts September 2026, runs for two years covering Levels 2 and 3

Entry requirements

  • Minimum school leaving age
  • GCSEs in English and Maths preferred
  • Interest in engineering or manufacturing
  • Offers are subject to eligibility and Workplus approval

The experience

  • On-the-job training in a modern injection moulding facility
  • Learning polymer processing, machinery operation, process optimisation and quality control
  • Work within a specialist engineering team
  • Strong focus on health and safety
  • Work towards recognised engineering qualifications.

There are two apprenticeship options available:

Engineering Apprentice – Polymer Processing: focus on injection moulding, setting and operating presses, polymer processing, quality checks and process improvement.
Engineering Apprentice – Toolmaking: focus on precision toolroom work including reading drawings, machining, CNC operation and tooling assembly.

Both roles offer a full-time week (39 hours) and start on 1 September 2026.
