Course Content

  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
  • Provide facial electrical treatments 
  • Provide body massage treatments 
  • Provide Indian head massage
  • Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils 
  • Provide stone therapy treatments 

If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.


Special Features

  • Industrial trips to spas and trade beauty shows may be included both to enhance and compliment the mandatory units and to facilitate industrial requirements
  • Salon experience is desirable but not compulsory
  • Uniform and kit purchase is mandatory.

Assessment Methods

The summative assessments for the qualifications require the candidates to undertake:

  • Practical tasks
  • Promotional events
  • Knowledge and understanding of tasks/assignments.
  • Online testing

Applicants must have NVQ or VRQ Level 2 qualitication in Beauty Therapy.


After completion of course learners can progress into employment in the Beauty Industry Level 3 Nail Technology or Higher Education related courses.  Over 90% of students who complete this course progress into employment examples include Beauty Salons, Spa's Cruise Ships or self employment.

Essential Skills

All full-time students at Northern Regional College have the opportunity to improve their English, Maths and ICT skills and gain qualifications. The qualification you take will depend on the qualification you already have. If you do not have a grade C or above in GCSE English, Maths or ICT, you MUST complete Essential Skills; this will form a compulsory part of your timetable. If you are planning to go on to further study (for example university), please check if a GCSE qualification (rather than Essential Skills Level 2 equivalent) is required. For those who have a GCSE grade D in Maths or English, we offer a GCSE fast-track course.
