Course Content

The objectives of the OCN NI Level 3 Award in Hydrogen Applications and Technologies are to enable the learner to develop an understanding of the following:

  • operating principles of hydrogen
  • how to use hydrogen safely
  • hydrogen fuel cells in transportation
  • hydrogen generation, storage and distribution

Course Aims

The OCN NI Level 3 Award in Hydrogen Applications and Technologies qualification will provide the learner with the skills and knowledge related to hydrogen and energy generation, storage and distribution.


Special Features

This qualification is targeted at learners who currently work or wish to work in the motor vehicle sector, plumbing sector and/or green energy sector.

The course is delivered on site in the Ballymena campus over three Friday’s (20th Feb, 27th Feb & 3rd March).


Course Update

This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.

Funding is subject approval.


  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must meet the Skill Up funding eligibility and the course entry requirements
  • You will be required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to successfully complete the qualification.
