Course Content

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is a vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This qualification will prepare you for employment as a sports massage practitioner working with injured clients. Learners who complete this qualification will be able to gain employment and obtain insurance to work as a sports massage practitioner. Employment opportunities exist in a variety of settings, including:

• Private health clubs and leisure centres
• Sports centres and clubs
• Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

This qualification differs from the VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy, as it allows you to work with injured clients. In contrast, the Level 3 qualification focuses primarily on pre- and post-event massage for non-injured tissue.

You must:

• have a Level 3 qualification in sports massage therapy or equivalent.
• be 16 years of age or over on 1 July in year of entry
