As an approved testing centre for Adobe, Northern Regional College can now offer Adobe Certified Professional (ACP) to Creative Media students. From September 2021, all full time Level 3 Creative Media students will additionally study towards achieving ACP, the industry standard for Adobe products which include Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, Animate, Dreamweaver and Premiere Pro.

Robert Wilsdon, Curriculum Area Manager for Creative Industries courses in Newtownabbey and Ballymena explained that these essential software applications are used daily within the creative Industry.

“There are plenty of openings in this dynamic and fast-growing sector for people with the right skills set but it is a very competitive sector and having ACP certification will give our students a competitive advantage over their peers.”

He continued: “We are offering ACP certification to our Creative Media students as an additionality so, when they complete the two-year level 3 programme successfully, they will graduate with their BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma and become an Adobe Certified Professional (ACP).

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone seeking progression to higher education or employment within this exciting and ever-developing industry. It is also relevant for anyone who would hope work as a freelance.”

Frankie McEldowney, Curriculum Area Manager for Creative Industries courses in Coleraine added, “Adobe has become such a recognisable brand and their products are synonymous with professional creativity, across a range of sectors including Design and Illustration, Web & App Development, TV & Film, Games Development, Animation and Photography. Our students will benefit so much from achieving these complementary professional qualifications.”

Creative industries in Northern Ireland have achieved global recognition. Much of the epic series Game of Thrones® was filmed in Northern Ireland and, thanks to its success, companies like Universal Pictures, BBC and Disney followed HBO’s lead and filmed here.
