The live showcase will feature performances from Year 1 and Year 2 students studying on the College’s Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music course, with the event acting as both a final end of year showcase for second year students and an important assessed performance opportunity for Year 1 learners as part of their A1 assessment.
Running from 5pm to 7pm, the event promises an evening packed with live music, modern interpretations and an eclectic mix of genres and influences. Audiences can expect everything from alternative rock and indie favourites inspired by Deftones and Radiohead, through to country music and contemporary pop tracks from artists such as Billie Eilish.
The showcase will highlight the wide range of musical abilities across the student cohort, with performances featuring vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and violin. Both solo performances and full band arrangements will take place throughout the evening, giving students valuable experience performing in a live venue environment.
Students aged between 16 and 26 will take part in the event, reflecting the diversity and inclusivity of the College’s music programme and its supportive creative environment.
Niamh McCourt, Course Coordinator and Lecturer for Music at Northern Regional College, said, “This showcase is a fantastic opportunity for our students to perform live and demonstrate the hard work, creativity and musical development they have achieved throughout the year. The event features an incredibly diverse range of music styles and influences, which really reflects the individuality and talent of the students involved.
She added, “Live performance experience is such an important part of music education and events like this help students build confidence, develop their stage presence and experience performing in a real venue environment. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and are looking forward to a brilliant evening of live music.”
The showcase forms part of Northern Regional College’s continued commitment to providing students with practical, industry-focused learning experiences that help prepare them for careers within the music and creative industries.
