The show opened on Monday 8th December, launching a full week of performances that included daily matinee shows at 10.30am and evening performances at 6.30pm.
The cast featured Year 1 and Year 2 Performing Arts students, all of whom brought energy, confidence and character to their performances as they reimagined this iconic story for a live audience. Year 2 students also took on key technical and production roles, including lighting operation, sound design, costume coordination and prop management. These responsibilities provided valuable hands-on experience and reflected real-world industry practice.
The pantomime highlighted the College’s strong ethos of cross-department collaboration. Music students performed as the live band, enhancing the atmosphere throughout the show. Beauty students provided theatrical makeup to support character development, while Carpentry and Joinery students constructed props and detailed set pieces. Media students filmed and photographed the production, ensuring the performances were professionally documented.
Danielle Birkett, Curriculum Area Manager at Northern Regional College, said:
“Our annual pantomime is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop real-life skills that are essential for progression in the creative industries. From performance to technical production, students gain practical experience and confidence, while performing live in front of an audience helps them grow as creative professionals.”
Lecturers praised students for their dedication, talent and teamwork, recognising the pantomime as a key element of real-world creative learning. The College also thanked staff, students and audience members whose support contributed to a highly successful run of performances at the Coleraine campus.
