Silver lining for Northern Regional College Graduate

Lesley Ann Moore, from Magherafelt, got more than she bargained for when she enrolled on a part-time Accountancy course at Northern Regional College: a new career and a husband! When a shock diagnosis of Lupas disease prevented Lesley pursuing her dreams of missionary work she took on a role in an Antrim accounts office. Surprised by how much she enjoyed working with numbers, Lesley enrolled in the Accounting Technicians Ireland Level 4 Certificate, proceeding to do her Level 5 certificate.

The course is an internationally recognised business qualification, combining professional exams with practical work experience and the Level 5 Certificate is a recognised alternative route to becoming a qualified charted accountant. Now Lesley not only enjoys a rewarding career as Accounts Executive for a mental health charity, but her and her class mate, Craig Moore, have recently tied the knot.

Northern Regional College’s Magherafelt campus will hold an Open Day on Tuesday 5 February from 4pm to 8pm, and on Saturday 9 February from 10am to 1pm. Open Days are a great opportunity to visit the College and find out more about the courses and facilities on offer. Information will be available on Training/Apprenticeships, GCSE equivalent courses (Level 2 BTEC Diploma) and A Level equivalent courses (Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma), as well as higher education courses including Foundation Degrees and Higher Level Apprenticeships.
