Local stakeholders were invited to view the progress of construction at Northern Regional College’s new Ballymena campus. The new state-of-the-art 16,900m2 campus will consolidate the College’s Ballymena provision, catering for around 1,800 learners. It will provide world-class facilities, enabling the delivery of training, skills and education. Fully funded by the Department for the Economy, the new £40 million campus forms part of a wider £85 million capital investment to provide new campuses for the College in both Coleraine and Ballymena. Heron Bros is the main contractor for both projects

Studying construction at Northern Regional College was the right decision one for Jack Neill, a young Coleraine man employed as a Higher Level Apprentice with Herons Bros Ltd., the main contractor for the College’s new landmark campus in the town. With 6 GCSEs under his belt and an interest in working in the construction industry, Jack explains that while he was keen to continue his studies, he was never a fan of exams.

Northern Regional College, in partnership with Northern Health and Social Care Trust, is supporting Dying Matters Week (May 8 – May 14, 2023). This builds on last year’s successful launch of the Death Positive Library and ‘Read Yourself Well’ project at the College’s Ballymena campus which saw the introduction of reading materials on dying, death and bereavement to allow staff and students to explore the subject from different perspectives.

A fourth year electrical installation apprentice at Northern Regional College is in the running for an Apprentice of the Year Award. Ben Brown from Carrickfergus, who is employed by Larne based electrical testing experts ICSS Ltd, is a finalist in the Apprentice of the Year category for Northern Ireland’s Electrical Awards 2023.

Northern Regional College’s Business Engagement Team continues to help local businesses and organisations innovate and grow by offering flexible training options. Earlier this year, the team delivered accredited training programmes, including Basic Food Hygiene, Health & Safety for Construction, Barista training and employability workshops for the Coleraine based charity, Vineyard Compassion.
