Northern Regional College’s long established and mutually beneficial relationships and collaboration with local employers and industry partners helps improve students’ employability. Engineering student Rachel McKerr from Ballinderry, who was awarded an Ulster University Foundation Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the College’s HE graduation ceremonies, is now employed as a service engineer with Scott Medical Ltd in Lisburn.

James Taylor from Cullybackey, whose son Jackson was awarded a Foundation Degree in Computing at Northern Regional College’s annual Higher Education graduation ceremonies, said the course helped Jackson secure employment with a Belfast software company.

The scholarship aims to increase access to higher education for new students entering undergraduate education. Attending St Mary’s Grammar School in Magherafelt until he completed his GCSEs, Sean, aged 19 said knew he wanted to complete an alternative route of study, but wasn’t sure what it was he wanted to specialise in.
