Coleraine student Jamie Watton (22), has turned his life around and gone from being a troubled teenager to an ambitious young man with a clear career goal. Having completed a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care at Northern Regional College in Coleraine, Jamie progressed to do the Level 3 Extended Diploma and has been offered a place at Ulster University to study Occupational Therapy.

Hairdressing students at Northern Regional College in Magherafelt have come up with a novel way to recycle hair cuttings from the College’s hairdressing training salon. Four Level 2 hairdressing students aka ‘Green Hair’ will be among the budding young entrepreneurs from FE colleges across Northern Ireland who will be pitching their business ideas to a panel of experts at the Project Based Learning 2024 competition final.

Two of the five young people selected to represent Team UK in the global WorldSkills competition in France this September studied engineering at Northern Regional College. Charlie Carson (21) from Ballymoney and Jason Scott (22) from Magherafelt will compete in the Robot Systems Integration skills category. They both completed a Foundation Degree in Engineering, graduating with distinction in June 2023.
