Staff at Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus have collaborated with their local football club to develop a ten-week health and fitness programme, to support students’ mental well-being. An initiative with Greenisland Football Club will pilot from February onwards with students on the College Connect programme at the Newtownabbey and Ballymena campuses.

To be eligible, students must be aged 18, have a primary address in the greater Ballymena area and have been offered a place at Northern Regional College for September 2022 to complete a two-year qualification in one of the following subjects: Foundation Degree Engineering; Foundation Degree Business with Digital Technology; Foundation Degree Computing; or Higher National Diploma Creative Media. The Scholarship will cover course fees of up to £2,500 per annum.

Students at Northern Regional College in Magherafelt are helping to pilot a new software programme aimed at improving young people’s employability. Belfast based online learning solutions company, DAMGEO, is in the process of developing a product to provide digital careers support service for 11-18 year olds. Feedback from the Co Derry students will be used to identify and iron out any challenges and glitches before the app is commercially launched.

The Good for Me Good for FE campaign aims to generate £1 million worth of social value via a programme of community action including volunteering, fundraising and charitable partnerships over the next twelve months.
