Below is the joint statement below that has been issued this morning from the six Principals of the FE Colleges. The health, welfare and well-being of our staff and college community remains our primary concern. We are working to ensure core operations can be maintained and to minimise the impact on individuals. To assist us in dealing with queries and enable prompt responses to critical concerns, please channel any queries to your line manager. All Colleges are working together to address queries relating to HR and the FAQs will be updated as details become available. Each one of you should to take maximum care and adhere to social distancing guidance. In line with the latest medical advice if you or anyone in your household is experiencing the symptoms of COVID –19, you should self-isolate.
Continue ReadingYear 10 pupils from eight local schools took part in a technology competition hosted by Northern Regional College and Ballymena Rotary Club at the College’s Farm Lodge campus, which saw them go head-to-head to design, build and test an operational crane. This year’s annual tournament saw a total of 76 pupils from St Benedict’s College, St Louis Grammar School, St Patrick’s College, Slemish Integrated College, Dunclug College, Cullybackey College, Castle Tower School and Ballymena Academy putting forward 19 teams to compete for the top prize of £200.
Continue ReadingNorthern Regional College has introduced a series of short accredited courses to upskill motor mechanics, in response to the growing number of electric and hybrid cars on the road. The College is offering the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles Routine Maintenance Activities to mechanics. The programme was initially only offered at the College’s Newtownabbey campus however, in response to growing demand, it has been extended to its Ballymena campus. To date, the College has trained 29 local mechanics who have all achieved the award.

Women in STEM (W-STEM), a £1 million international project aimed at promoting STEM subjects to women in higher education, was conceived to encourage more women to do STEM subjects, primarily in South American universities.

Aspiring young chefs got to try out their culinary skills in a professional kitchen at College’s in Ballymoney campus. Under the watchful eye of catering lecturers, Jane McAuley and Eimear McCann, pupils from local post primary schools produced a two course meal of spaghetti bolognaise and apple sponge.
