Following last year’s WorldSkills UK National Championship, two former Northern Regional College students have secured their spot on the National UK Squad for Industrial Robotics and will compete at the International WorldSkills in Shanghai in October 2022.

Gaining an accredited Health and Social Care qualification at Northern Regional College in Newtownabbey has helped a young County Antrim woman secure full-time employment. Helena Boyle from Crumlin, who was awarded a Level 4 Diploma in Social and Community Work, was among the Northern Regional College’s HE students to graduate at the College’s 2021 graduation ceremony in the Tullyglass Hotel. The ceremony was originally scheduled for December 2021 but was postponed due to Covid restrictions.

A former English teacher has embarked on a new career in counselling after completing a Foundation Degree in Counselling at Northern Regional College. Christina Bateson, from outside Limavady, was among the students to graduate at the College’s Higher Education graduation ceremony in Ballymena.

A dedicated Northern Regional College lecturer has been successful in winning the Firmus Energy/Local Women Inspirational Teacher Award. Jacqui McAllister, who has been teaching at the College for 20 years, was nominated for both Inspirational Teacher and Inspirational Woman in the Firmus Energy/Local Women Inspirational Women of the Year Awards 2022. For Jacqui, however, the two nominations and award are recognition not just for her, but her colleagues.
