Northern Regional College has been awarded the Matrix Quality Standard for Student Services, the gold standard certification which underlines the College’s commitment to providing exemplary support to all students. The Matrix Quality Standard is the international standard for ensuring the quality of delivery of high-quality information, advice and guidance. The latest Matrix accreditation review of Northern Regional College noted that the College’s Student Services Team continues to ‘punch above its weight’.

During a visit to Northern Regional College’s Ballymena campus, Marie outlined how she identified a growing market for sustainable fashion and then launched her own business.

Award winning Belfast actor Matthew Forsythe visited Northern Regional College’s Newtownabbey campus to deliver a drama workshop to Level 3 Performing Arts students. Matthew, fresh from a successful run of Marie Jones’s one-man play ‘A Night in November’ at The MAC, explained how he researched and developed the play’s numerous characters and demonstrated how to bring them to life on stage

Combatting cybercrime, growing artificial intelligence and developing computer games were just some of the exciting new career opportunities in the computing sector showcased at an event hosted by Northern Regional College’s Magherafelt campus. The ‘Bring IT On’ event, funded by the Department for the Economy, organised by staff and Higher National students in the Computing department, featured a series of practical workshops by current and former students at the College.

Northern Regional College has introduced ‘drop in’ Essential Skills Hubs at all campuses to offer students additional support in English and Maths. Donal MacAuley, Acting Curriculum Area Manager for Essential Skills explains the thinking behind the exciting initiative: “The pandemic has been very disruptive to learning at all levels and some of our students have been affected more than others. We have found that some of them, including those who have already achieved their GCSE Maths and English, are struggling to complete their coursework.”
