The ‘Bring IT On’ event was sponsored by Department for the Economy and saw 60 Year 11 – 14 pupils from Magherafelt High School and Sperrin Integrated College taking part in an educational initiative to showcase computer science opportunities at Northern Regional College. The College worked collaboratively with local employers such as the RAF, PSNI, Cyber Unit and Instil to provide a series of computer science workshops and coding activities for post-primary school pupils in the Magherafelt area.

Students who represented Northern Regional College WorldSkills UK 2022 national finals were recognised at the College’s HE graduation ceremonies. Conor Dallas from Lougheil was a finalist in bench joinery. He is employed by Mivan and is a second-year apprentice joinery student at the College.

Northern Regional College’s new campus in Coleraine will be a great asset to the town and local area. That was the consensus of staff from the College’s Coleraine and Ballymoney campuses who enjoyed a tour of the campus development which is currently under construction. The new campus will consolidate all teaching at the former Coleraine and Ballymoney campuses onto one site.
Continue ReadingWhen Coleraine singer Claire Smyth enrolled on an Ulster University Access Diploma in Social Sciences at Northern Regional College, she was following in her mother Karen’s footsteps. Claire was awarded her Diploma at the College’s annual Higher Education ceremonies in December 2022 while Karen, who completed an Access Diploma 15 years ago, found that it opened the door to a new career as a nurse. She is now a theatre sister at Causeway Hospital and studying part-time to complete a postgraduate diploma in Specialist Practice Nursing – Anaesthetic Nursing.
