Northern Regional College Provides Progression Pathway for mature student

Among the thousands of students who received their GSCE results last month was Konrad Buras, a mature student from Poland who studied English at Northern Regional College. Having lived in Northern Ireland for the past 17 years, Konrad speaks English fluently, but he realised he would need GCSE English to achieve his goal of going to university.

Northern Regional College has partnered with NIE Networks to deliver bespoke training for meter readers. Over 1 million electric meters across Northern Ireland are due to be replaced and the new training programme for metering operatives is in direct response to an identified need for staff with a specific skillset.

Northern Regional College is offering a new Level 4 qualification for people working with children and adults with special education needs and disability. The course is the first and only Higher Education qualification of its kind currently available in Northern Ireland. The innovative Level 4 module Supporting Children and Adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities was written by Fiona Forrest, a lecturer at Northern Regional College.

Northern Regional College student, Ciarraí Mullholland has been successful in achieving a scholarship for Stirling University to study a Degree in Nursing. Ciarraí studied Level 2 Health & Social Care, at Northern Regional College’s Coleraine before progressing to complete the Level 3 extended diploma at the same campus. The Level 3 Extended Diploma is the academic equivalent of three A levels.

A Cookstown mother of two who completed a Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development at Northern Regional College in Coleraine has given the course a ‘thumbs up’. Amy Boyle completed the part-time course at the West Bann Centre in Coleraine. She has since secured employment as a childcare assistant with the Jack and Jill Playgroup in Cookstown, where she completed a placement during the ‘fast-track’ one year course.
