Northern Regional College Going for Gold

Northern Regional College will have eight apprentices and students going for gold in the national finals of the 2023 skills competitions later this month. The College will be represented in the six different skills areas: Industrial Robotics, Mechatronics, Plumbing, Welding, Joinery and Carpentry. The finalists are Hannah Currie and Peter O’Neill (Industrial Robotics); Canaan Carleton and Kyle Davidson (Mechatronics); Morgan Finney (Plumbing); Jamie McArthur-Gill (Welding); Jamie Matthews (Joinery); and Bailey Gibson (Carpentry).

Following on from successes in both the GO Awards and Project Delivery Profession Awards 2023, Northern Regional College’s Project Team has been announced as winners of the Project Delivery Awards – Project Team of the Year – 2024 Awards (NICS) for the second consecutive year. On account of this success, the College has subsequently been shortlisted to represent Northern Ireland in the UK wide awards, endorsing a major vote of confidence in the College’s capital investment programme.

A part-time student at Northern Regional College has won a prestigious CIPD (Chartered Institute of Professional Development) award. CIPD is the professional body for HR and People Development. Eimear Duffy from County Monaghan was awarded the CIPD NI Best HR Student award, one of the 11 awards presented at the CIPD’s glittering gala awards evening in the Titanic Belfast on Thursday 12 October.

Young construction students got a sneak preview of Northern Regional College’s new campus in Ballymena as part of a construction activity day hosted by the College. The construction activity day, attended by BTEC Level 3 Construction students at the College, as well as pupils studying GCSE Construction at Cullybackey College, was designed to highlight the different routes into a rewarding and challenging career in the construction sector.
